What is Sound Buddy?

Sound Buddy enables the app to detect and record sound frequencies from radio and TV broadcasts at certain intervals. The Bonopolis app uses this function to determine who is listening to or watching specific radio and TV content. The detected sound frequencies are simultaneously converted into a mathematical "fingerprint" which is compared with a database of advertising campaigns. Original sound recordings are not stored. The collected audio measurement data can then be used to conduct more targeted research on the effectiveness of online advertising and to gain insights into target audiences.

How does Sound Buddy work?

Sound Buddy converts every recorded sound into a fingerprint immediately. Each fingerprint represents a sound frequency that can be matched. The generated fingerprint does not allow for the reconstruction of the original sound, so Sound Buddy does not record voices, background noise, calls, or conversations, and thus does not collect personal data. How can I activate Sound Buddy?

It's easy! Open the Bonopolis app on your mobile phone and activate the “Sound Buddy” feature in the "Bonus Points" section. You can turn this feature on and off at any time. To see the feature in the Bonopolis app, you should have the latest version of your operating system installed. If you don’t yet use our Bonopolis app, you can download it from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (Apple).

How can I manage Sound Buddy in the app?

By activating Sound Buddy in the app, you allow Bonopolis to access your mobile device's microphone, whether the app is open or not. This ensures you don’t miss any surveys. The recognition of sounds from radio and TV broadcasts allows the Bonopolis app to use the collected data anonymously, combined with non-identifiable profile data or passive measurement data. You can turn off this feature at any time in the app or adjust your privacy settings on your phone.
